The mister brought me fresh cotton, out of the field, displayed behind the sofa.
I have some models determined to be in this shot, Sonny, Layla and that foot belongs to Jacques.
There are Fall touches here and there. Velvet pumpkins on the round coffee table for now. There are dried hydrangeas on both skirted round tables. I have switched out the table skirts to warmer colors as shown with the red and a warm green.
I antiqued the picture frame surrounding the poppies and fall like trees. It was a dark brown and I didn't care for it so I used some Rub n' Buff on it. It's right there to the right of the sofa and next to my bookcase. I think it came out pretty good!
Here is a close up for you. I don't have the practice of making anything look older or distressed, I usually try to go the other direction!
You can see it better here. Right in front of the framed picture is a clear vase with my stems that I leave out year round. I covered the bottom of my stems in the clear vase with dried hydrangeas. I just stuffed them into the vase with the stems and the bottom of them is now covered. It was easy to do and no cost!
The velvet pumpkins resting on top of my silver tray.
Aubergine berries and faux leaves sit atop the pine coffee table.
This table has vintage photos of family, dried hydrangeas and bird's nest all sitting fall-like here.
The mister as a boy and his father.
This was my first mantel decorating for the Fall. It could stay all the way until Christmas if I had not changed it.
Here I went for a different look on the mantel. A robust full Fall mantel!
The buffet ready for Fall.
I shared my dining table and buffet. This is one large room with the kitchen to the left of the table in this photo. You can see the beginning of the cabinets at the top left of the photo.
This photo is a miracle for me. I have a lot of difficulty photographing in my kitchen with the fluorescent lights. That's the tour for now but I am sure I will be changing things up so stay tuned.....

Just beautiful Jan, I like your style and that you don't prefer the distressed look. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great Monday!
Gina
Thank you Gina! You are too nice! I think my body and face are aging enough that I can 'young up' what's around me! lol!
DeleteLoved this tour, beautiful Jan!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Pam! You are my color sister! : )

ReplyDeleteThank you Carol! I bought those at Hobby Lobby and would love to fill both tables full if I could!
DeleteI just love your home, so vibrant ...like a Manet painting...a flourish here and there. Makes me think of English gardens and water fountains? I have no idea, and your bits of Fall are all you need. Thanks for the wonderful tour! Sandi
ReplyDeleteSandi, you are so kind to say that! Thank you so much!
DeleteYour home looks wonderful with your fall touches. I Ike how comfortable and gracious your room feels. The colors are rich but not overdone.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing less this year and like it just as well.
Thanks Liz! Less is more for Fall, that's for sure.
DeleteLooks beautiful, Jan! Your living room is so cozy and so pretty! You did a great job on your frame. Don't you just love that Rub 'n Buff stuff? The vignette on your island in the kitchen is wonderful! Love that yard bird. Oh, no, I see more 'orange'. I'm not going to let you live that down! ;) Well, maybe if you bake me some cookies!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Thanks Sheila! I do like the Rub Buff stuff, it was easy and I didn't have to sand anything. Thanks for coming by and I will have the cookies next time you come.
DeleteOh Janet...!!! This room is my dream room! I can see myself spending most of my time in here with so much beauty surrounding me!!! I love the velvet pumpkins and they go so well with the colors in your beautiful room!!!!

I am so in love with your home. I just want to come in and relax on that sofa with a good book, listening to some nice classical music. Your home is so satisfying after viewing so many gray and white decorated homes. I love, love, love all the color.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I do have to admit I miss seeing color in other homes. You are very kind!
DeleteJust beautiful. I love the color of your velvet pumpkins! Thanks for joining Home Sweet Home!
