Well,....I forgot I had a large tablespoon in one and it had disappeared into the batter. I turn the blender on and it hits that spoon and the spoon becomes Air Born! I kid you not, that spoon traveled from the island to over to my granddog Jacques and hit him on the stomach. I am letting out a whoop and the other dogs, Layla and Sonny wake up to see what all the noise is about. Layla sees Jacques has the spoon and gets jealous and it becomes a competition of who can lick it up the fastest. Poor Sonny didn't get any and has been staring at me with his big brown eyes wanting just a little taste.
So what are you up to today?
Jan
Lol! What a funny story! I can imagine it all. Glad no one was hurt....Christine
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine! Oh what a mess I have to clean up! I have become a messy baker.
DeleteJan,
ReplyDeleteToo, too funny, dear friend!!!
Sorry about your Granddog's tummy!
Here's wishing you brighter baking days ahead!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Thanks Pat! I am hoping for better days but I am not sure it will be!
DeleteOh, I can just see this happening! And your pretty little face and your mouth in an 0! Glad you didn't put the eye out on the doggy! Isn't it something how something like this can happen so fast!! Did you get your pumpkin bread made?
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Kind Sheila, my old face was in a big 0! No doggies were hurt but are very interested in where the rest of the batter went. Two pumpkins loaves cooked. I did put the pumpkin seeds on top but they aren't very good to me.
DeleteYour fall home tour was so pretty! I can so relate, I am not a big baker, and when I do it never seems to work out. I mess up and it just doesn't come out good. So I avoid it at all cost...but hubs loves a sweet every now and then so I try again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy! The bread came out good, it was a miracle!
DeleteAha...but I bet you had plenty of help with the clean up......4 legged assistants are the BEST!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat story, thanks for the smile at the end of this L.O.N.G week!!!
Have a good weekend and blessings to you,
J
Thank you J! They certainly are the best helpers. I hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteIt was truly a surprise for you and poor Jacques! I bet the bread was yummy though.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Jan, what a great story! I am going to make pumpkin bread tomorrow, I will make sure not to leave a spoon in the batter!
ReplyDeletePopping back in and I guess all that pumpkin bread has been eaten! I would have loved a piece! Thanks for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Ha, Ha, Ha....yesterday I ventured to the kitchen...for baking. (I am recipe/following challenged), especially with the tri-focals. Anyway ---baking birthday cake...for Grandbaby. Bought RedVelvet cupcake cake mix (with cream cheese frosting in same box)...Now I was making three cakes, chocolate, white and red velvet, so I started with white, no problem...except whole eggs went in...didn't see the small (whites only) print..
ReplyDeleteChocolate, I think I did right... Red Velvet...added water, added, whole egs, added oil, added 1/2 cup butter.....I thought that was odd....the butter and the oil...but then licked my lips and said oh well..and added the melted butter. (Turns out the butter was supposed to be for the cream cheese frosting)
When I realized it ---too late, I added another egg and beat the crap out of it...to make it fluffy....and baked as usual. Well...the oohing and ahhing, and hmmmming while everyone ate the cake, (everyone said the RedVelvet layer was the best, makes me think I will do it every time I bake a cake..)
Who needs to follow ===stinking directions===== so I cracked up when I read your post. Smiles, Sandi
Sandy, that is too funny! We are in the same boat, it sounds like. : ) At least you know what you did wrong, I have had many cakes that turned out to be awful and never did figure out what I did. This last time when I was adding ingredients I couldn't remember if I had added the flour and had to go digging in the mixture to see if the flour was sitting at the bottom of the pile of ingredients waiting to be blended. That is why that spoon was in the bowl when I started mixing with the hand held blender! Thanks for sharing your adventures in the kitchen!
