My Magnolias and Natchez

Hey!  Y'all doing okay?!   The Magnolia blooms have been fabulous this year.  I have lived here a long time and I don't remember a year of so many blooms.  There are blooms everywhere this year.  So in that vein may I present my Magnolia tablescape.  For good measure you will find gardenias strewn about the table as to impress you with the abundance of them.  Well, it looks like I have a lot of gardenias but really one little bush is blooming it's behind off!

Last year was a dry year for the magnolias here.  I think we had maybe a couple and they were really high up in the tree.

We didn't have to pull out a ladder of anything.  I didn't have to go "pick one up off the ground at a local establishment either!"

My dear mister helped me immensely with this.  I did something to my knee and walking was really painful.  He was my right arm with this vignette.  By the way, I let him put a ring on me thirty years ago and with celebrating that I have an all white table!  Yes, it's our 30th anniversary!

We went to Natchez for the occasion.  I took a few photos while we were there.  They aren't what you probably expect.

I love the cemetery there.  There are so many dramatic iron fences.  Now I don't hesitate to tell you I am a little uneasy leaving my name on some of these photos.  I am not superstitious but I prefer staying away from anything like this.  Would you want your name on a photo of a cemetery?  Or in this case, on the back of a headstone?!  See what I do for ya'll!

A very close up and personal look at the tiny little center part of the flower.  That "hair" just really gets to me!

There are so many private homes that aren't celebrated but are very pretty and look historical.

  2. I am surprised that you already have magnolia's in bloom and I enjoyed each of your pics. I live in N FL and ours have not begun to bloom yet. Your photos of some of the homes in Natchez brought back fond memories of a trip there during the Spring tour. I never went to the cemetery but will the next time I make it back to Natchez. I have been wanting to go back and hope to plan another trip there. I enjoyed your post.

    1. Thank you Carolyn! We have had a lot of rain this Spring and I think that's why the deep South is flourishing this year. There are so many homes that are gems not on the main tour but so worth just riding and taking in. The cemetery is very interesting and if it was cooler we would have stayed longer.
