Warm Up With Green

There might be an obessed lady living in my house.  She keeps changing the mantel.  Let's go check out what she has done to it this time.

The mantel is wearing a lighter, brighter shade of blue with these plates.  This art has hung behind the tv for quite awhile.  Taking a cue from Furlow Gatewood I paired my art with the blue.  Or maybe I am just copying his great eye or trying to!   The vintage green books warm it up a little.  I think you need to hold on to a little warmth when you are using a lot of blue if you have a room with cool light.

Furlow Gatewood ~ Love all the blue.   I think this room would come alive if there was a little more warmth seen.  Now, don't throw anything at me!  The room has a very cool light to it and the room is appearing a little cold.   Put the shoe back on your foot, I know ~ how dare I!  You see it, don't you?  Can you see how some warm tones would bring out the beauty of the blue?  Like a little green?!

As we get closer to Spring, I see signs of it here and there.  The loropetulam is pretty right now with its show of pink.  We went for a ride this weekend and I caught a couple of good ones!

This is a beautiful way to grow your  loropetalum to appear treelike and so pretty against the white fence and the ornamental grass.  It resembles crepe myrtles but you get the color early in the season.  I love the look of this!

Of course the geese are enjoying the warm days here at the lake.  We are having with lots of sunshine.

Someone has the right idea, are you ready for Spring gazing?

  1. Oh Jan, you are funny! I love seeing the changes you make to your mantle! My poor mantle stays the same all the time, except for Christmas! I need to step out a bit I believe. I do know what you mean about adding some warmth to blues, and you did a wonderful job.
    Have a great week,

    1. Thanks Gina! Mine used to pretty much stay the same. When I bought the mirror from my sister in law it unleashed the revolving mantel in me! Haha!
