Finally The Stairs

When we left off, the dining table was being shared. It is dressed for Christmas in blue and pinks, reds, burgundies, crimson, etc.  The kitchen/dining room is one large room with the stairs going up from here.

The stairs needed something simple because there already is a lot going on, which is the way I like to go.  I am definitely a more is more kind of 'girl'.  I mixed some magnolia leaves in the wreaths and added a bow.  It's simple but effective in an already decorated room.

I have added a lot more greenery to the wreaths before but it ends up shedding most of it before Christmas and can be quite a mess.

The buffet is wearing a garland with light green faux pointsettas and a little gold here and there.  If you squint your eyes, you can see my little reindeer is standing proud there as well.

  2. Hi Jan, I'm right there with you in the way you think. I like the Victorian motto, "when you think you have enough, add some more"! I always enjoy seeing your pretties! Have a wonderful day!

  4. I have always wanted a home with a staircase. From the outside my little Victorian looks like it would be two story and my first thoughts of it were , "great, now I can decorate a staircase for Christmas". Needless to say I was a bit disappointed when I saw that it was just attic space up there. I love the individual wreaths on the bannister. It all looks so beautiful and warmly festive..Merry Christmas..Judy

    1. Thank you Judy! Oh, that would be a little disappointing but you still can decorate them. There is a lot to say about not having to carry laundry upstairs! Thanks for coming by and commenting.

  5. Oh my....so lovely and (my motto) "way too much is just about right"....
Your pale green poinsettias are beautiful....For a while I lived in Florida and had 6' tall poinsettia plants around my house. In the fall they were beautiful with their green leaves.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season with many blessings,
    J

  12. Oh Jan, didn't you get the blogger memo? You are only supposed to do white farmhouse with greenery all over the place. You totally aren't going to be in the "in" crowd with your house. Tee hee! Just Kidding!

On a serious note, THANK YOU for showing us something different. Love, love, L-O-V-E seeing a REAL home that looks like how people really live on a home blog. It's wonderful to see someone who doesn't have to follow by the boring blog rule of all white, all greenery and the "simple" Christmas all the others are doing.

As a reader, I've barely looked at blogs this holiday season because the few I have looked at all look exactly the same. Maybe they all think it will get a magazine's attention, but I don't know how considering all their homes are so cookie cutter boring and dull, dull, dull.

I don't comment much, but I always enjoy your blog to see something that is different from the rest and very pretty. You've done a great job with your decorating!
