Spring Buffet

I hope you had a good Easter and are enjoying this Spring.  Today I am sharing spring branches on the buffet.   These are straight off the Bradford Pear and Japanese Magnolia trees.  There are lots of pretty blooms.  It looks so dramatic in person I thought I would give it a try to capture on the camera.  It was a challenge to capture the scale of it.  If I stand next to the wall with the cabbage plates, my head comes to about the middle of the bottom plate.  So the branches are looming tall over us and almost feels like we have a tree in the house.  You don't have to go buy anything when nature starts putting on her show!

Plumes Please!

I shared these pretty plumes I came across on my prior post.  The  mister went into the woods edge and cut a few for me.  He kept asking me how much?  I said all you will cut!  He was covered in begger's lice when he came out.  This was on my sister's property so no we weren't trespassing!

I am so glad he granted my wish.

I cut them and brought them inside and have a fall look happening!

It came out very tall and striking, I was pleasantly surprised.

First I had to figure out the best spot to photograph it...no, not here.

Not here either...

Better, let's see...

Yes!  They even  go with my wallpaper. : )

I sprayed them with bug spray on the back porch and let them sit in a big vase, full of water, outside overnight.  I haven't been eaten up by any bugs so it worked.  I trimmed the length otherwise it would be out of control.  The plumes go well with those lavender fall like hydrangeas.

Now it's on the back porch!  It has 'bloomed' out and I didn't want to take chances with it inside.  Oh well!

Just a Little Pink & Purple

Hey!  Ya'll doing okay?!  I was putting this post together and an old friend messaged me some pics.  It gave me just the inspiration I needed!  How do you like my wisteria chair?!  Yes there's a little chair in there, you just have to look close enough!

IMG_4503The loropetalums were so vivid this year.  I saw many shrubs that have grown as tall as ornamental trees and are trimmed to appear as a tree.  When they bloom they are breathtaking.  They almost appear like an azalea tree!  If there only was such a thing.

The Japanese Magnolia has only a handful of blooms left.

Here they are sitting on a map of the world.  A scarf you can wear or use as a table runner!

I like the blooms  in a tarnished silver creamer.

Springplateswithcherub

With the cold spell we had a while back these hyacinths had to sit indoors a few days.  This is one of my favorite places to set up different vignettes.  Vignette Central basically!  This is where my concrete cherub lives most of the year!  He helps bring the look together with whatever I am doing.  I use to carry him around the house but he got too heavy for me and I decided that is where he will stay for now.  I have shared these plates on another post but I really like them with all sorts of flowers.

Purple

IMG_2880

Do you have days that you are drawn to a certain color?  I do!  When my daughter was very young I would dress her in the same color I was wearing but not on purpose.  I usually didn't notice until the end of the day.  I guess it would be called a subconscious choice.  Color is so important, it can affect your mood.  Blue is a very calming color.  Have you ever noticed when you have been shut indoors a long time you get what I call sky hungry.  You actually need to see the sky.  The blue lifts you and is very reassuring.

Purple is the color for royalty.  I don't know about that but I love seeing purple and green together, I just swoon over it.  I read where it is rare in nature.  I suppose it is compared to other colors.  But it won't be long before the azaleas and wisteria are a glorious purple.
