Manic Mantel

Hello!  Yes, I have a manic mantel.  The mantel is always changing!  There is still lots of fall decorating on the mantel.  There is a new vintage mirror on the mantel that I am crazy about.  My sweet sister-in-law knew it would be a favorite of mine and let me know she was selling it!  I am loving it!  It is hanging forward so that it reflects the room instead of looking at a white ceiling.   Let's take a peek.

The mirror is a classic beauty and is reflecting my bookcase which I was hoping it would but I was surprised it did so well.   I decided to play that up and brought books over to the mantel that are housed on the bookcase as well.  Dried hydrangeas add texture and interest to the whole look of the mantel.

There are Blue Willow plates on each side of the mirror.  I like the blue because it ties in with the other blues in the room.  The blue in here helps cool down the red sofas.

It is hard to do a post this time of year without sharing some of nature's beauties.

The hydrangeas all came from my yard except for the red ones. ; )

It is amazing how much light it brings to the room.  At night it reflects the lamps but not in a glaring way, it is a soft reflection of light.  I do have to admit that I am not used to seeing myself sitting in here while watching tv.

So there you have it!  The third Fall mantel I have shared with you.  There's always another way to dress your mantel!

Jan

  3. OOOOOOO! I love it! Your mirror is gorgeous. I have one very similar but not as pretty as yours in my dining room. I love how you've poked the hydrangeas in your vases! And of course, I love the Blue Willow plates too. I got bunches of Blue Willow! Your nature snaps are so pretty! Thanks for popping in to see me. I wish we could visit in person - I think we'd get along just great! ;)

  4. Just beautiful Jan! I need to be more like you with my mantle, besides changing it up for Holidays it stays the same year round. I guess because I don't know where I would put the stuff that I take down.
Thanks for the beautiful inspiration and have a wonderful rest of your week,
    Gina

    1. Thank you Gina! I know it can be a challenge to have enough room to store these things we need. If I only had an extra room to store things in my house would stay a lot neater!

  11. The mirror goes so well with your decor, especially on your gorgeous mantle! I love the idea of stacking books and using them as part of your vignette! I'm missing the true fall colors of autumn. Everything here in AZ is brown and green due to all of the rain this summer.

    1. Thanks Oliva! We finally are getting rain today. It became so dry we had a burn ban going on. I am hoping we will get a little more color before Christmas arrives.
